Dental Examinations and Cleanings

At Gentle Smiles Colorado, we believe that good oral health begins with good oral hygiene practices. This may seem like a given, but you'd be surprised with how many patients walk in without having the proper knowledge of how to best take care of their teeth and gums. At home, you should be brushing your teeth, flossing in between your gums, and using mouthwash at least twice a day in order to maintain a healthy status (although this varies from person to person). Taking care of your oral health is very important because bad oral health can affect not just your teeth and gums, but the rest of your body and organs as well. While all the work that you do at home is great—this is considered basic maintenance. Our dentists are here and available to clean areas that are hard to reach for your toothbrush and floss.

Dental Examination

When you come in for your first visit, we'll conduct a thorough examination of your teeth and gums whilst looking for any current or potential problems. This may include measurements, photos, or x-rays whose information will ultimately be used to make a diagnosis. Once a diagnosis has been reached, our dental experts will recommend potential treatment options; please keep in mind that some of these treatments will be emphasized as necessary while others may be unnecessary, but will ultimately serve your overall health. At the end of the examination, we will also be sure to give you detailed instruction on proper oral hygiene to help care for your teeth and prevent any future dental and health issues.

Routine Cleanings

Dental cleanings are very important to schedule throughout the year. At Gentle Smiles of Colorado, we recommend scheduling a cleaning with us about two times a year. We'll perform a thorough and complete cleaning of your teeth, removing plaque from places that are hard to reach and applying fluoride to help protect your teeth when you leave. In between your visits, as previously mentioned, please keep up with your daily brushing, flossing, and use of mouthwash. If you are confused about how often you should be keeping up with these practices, talk to your Denver Dental to understand what you should be adding to your teeth cleaning routine.
